Chocolate Crunchies!!

Here are all the ingredients for this delicious crunchie recipe

Wash your hands before your start

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C

Put 125ml brown sugar into a pot

Add 165ml butter, and heat over a low heat

(Next time I would rather melt the butter first, then add the sugar, because the sugar stuck a bit on the bottom of the pot)

Put 250ml of cake flour into a measuring jug

And also put 250ml of oats into the jug

Then put 250ml dessicated coconut into the jug

Add 3ml of baking powder into the jug

Don't you love how it makes so many layers?

Finally, add 15ml of cocoa powder

Pour the dry mixture into a larger bowl and mix

Get the warm butter mixture from the stove, and scoop it into the dry mixture (now wet!)

Stir

Until it looks like this ...

Flatten it down into a greased baking tin

See why we have to wash our hands!

Then put it into the pre-heated oven

Then time it for 20 minutes

And I like to clean up (also you should clean up your mess that you made)

I like to throw the cloth and try to get it into the sink!

I made it!!!!Take the crunchies out when the 20 minutes is finished

I cut it into squares while it was still warm - but it would be better to do the icing first, and then cut into the squares. I'll do that next time.

The icing is SO easy. You just put 250ml icing sugar in a bowl ....

... then add 15ml cocoa powder

... and 5ml vanilla extract/essence

and 30ml hot water

Mix together very well

... and pour over the warm crunchies. The icing soaks into the crunchies a bit which is very yummy. This is when you should cut them into squares, then you won't have the icing running in between the crunchies like I did. (but it was nice to clean the pan afterwards!)

I gave some to my tennis teacher today, and my friends who play tennis with me. I also gave some to my pottery teacher, and the others doing pottery with me, and everyone thought they were delicious. Now you can try them!!

We made some more the next day, and this time did the icing before cutting. It was much better - have a look ...

Fresh Banana Milkshakes! Yummy!

Here are the ingredients that you will need for this yummy banana milkshake.
This amount will make 4 or 5 milkshakes.
You should really make these because they are healthier than shop milkshakes - and much cheaper and yummier too!! (my brother says MUCH yummier!)

First you add some ice. Add how much you want, but the more ice, the colder and icier the milkshake will be. I added about one and a half cups of ice.

Now you add the ice-cream. I used about four big scoops.

Cut the banana into the mix. I used about 4 bananas.

Now you add the milk. I used 2 cups of milk. (low fat)

This is going to be good!

Put the mixer on (don't forget to put the lid on first!)

When it is all mixed, then you pour some into your glass

Told you my brother says they are yummy!! He asks me to make them all the time!

Peanut Butter Banana Biscuits

Would you like to learn to make these yummy biscuits?
I'll show you how!
First, wash your hands very well, because you don't want to put any germs onto the food.
It is kind to make sure that you always give people food which has been made in a clean way

If you have an apron, you should put it on, because these biscuits can get a bit messy
These are the things you need to make the biscuits (I will list the amounts again at the end)

125ml peanut butter (I like to use the one with no added sugar or salt or anything)

Then, 125 grams butter (I always like to use real butter rather than margarine)

Add 100 grams of white sugar

Then 100 grams of brown sugar

Mix it all together

When it looks nice and soft and creamy you can add 2ml vanilla essence
I love the smell of this
We like to buy the real vanilla extract. It is quite expensive, but you use less, I only had to put in 4 drops

Break one egg into a bowl
(I like to do it with one hand - it is like a trick!)

Then add into the mixture.
It is always better to break eggs into a seperate bowl first just in case they are bad. If you didn't know it was bad, and put it straight into the mixture, you would have to throw the whole mixture away because of the stink
My brother says that you can test if an egg is rotten by putting it into a bowl of water. If it floats, DON'T USE IT!
He also says that 100's of years ago, witch-finders used that same method to decide if someone was a witch or not! They dropped her into a lake, and if she floated she was a witch, and was killed. If she sank, she was innocent .... and dead anyway!
Weird!
Okay, moving on - this egg was definitely fresh!
In another bowl, mix half a teaspoon of Baking Powder (soda) to 150 grams of flour

And 3ml of Bicarbonate of Soda (just a tiny bit more than half a teaspoon)

Pour the whole lot into the peanut butter mixture (through a sieve)

Now stir it all together

It gets quite hard, but don't give up

When it is all mixed, you can peel a ripe banana, and add it in
I just broke it into pieces and stirred it in, but it might be easier to mash it in another little bowl first then add it, and you won't have such hard stirring to do again

Whew

Then when it is all nicely mixed, you can reward yourself and lick the spoon! Yum!
But don't put the spoon back in the mixture! It must be washed after you licked it.
Then you must get some plastic wrap and wrap the mixture all up

Into a parcel like this

Then put it in the fridge for 30 minutes

Now you can clean up your mess, and then have a little break

After the 30 minutes, wash your hands again before you do the next step. This is very important, because you will need to use your hands to do this part.

Unwrap the cooled mixture

And start taking walnut-sized pieces and rolling them into balls and then put onto a greased biscuit tin

This is the fun part!

Make sure they have spaces in between because the biscuits will spread out

Your hands get very sticky, so I had a wet cloth to keep wiping them if I needed to
Don't lick your fingers, you will have to go all the way back to wash them again!

Put the biscuits into the 190 degree C oven, and let them bake for 10 minutes

See how they spread out?
They smell so yummy now!

And the taste?
I love them! I wanted to eat all of them, but I didn't

I hope you enjoy them too!
